Geography

Punta lies in the central-south of Calamba City. The barangay has been bounded by other barangays of Calamba City which are: Kay-Anlog (south); Bubuyan (west); Tulo (east) and, Palo Alto (north-west) and, Barandal (north). The barangay has a total land area of 331 hectares. Punta is divided in 6[1] puroks, these are:

Name Origin

Most of the people from Punta believe that the name of their barrio is the another Tagalog term for tubo (sugarcane), and they also believe that the name of their barrio was derived from that because before there were much of sugarcane farms there. Though, dictionaries (like UP Diksiyonaryong Filipino) doesn't show that the word punta and sugarcane were synonymous. But in Tagalog, the word punta also means:
